The Darwin Ice Hockey Team is real and unreal at the same time. Every year the Rocksitters Club in Darwin will actually write a letter to whomever are the Ice Hockey World Champions challenging them to an Ice Hockey match on Mindil Beach in Darwin. Of course there is no ice on Mindil Beach. On the day of the match The Rocksitters Ice Hockey team hire a bus get dressed up in Ice Hockey gear and hop on the bus to go to Mindil Beach to wait for the World Champions to turn up for the challenge match. They wander around looking for ice and hit a puck around the sand. When the World Champions don't turn up (they never do) The Darwin team wins by default and hop on the bus for a victory pub crawl of the hotels in Darwin. It's a fun day out. The Darwin Ice Hockey Team remain World Champions to this day.
